My sister..she's lucky I love her!

My sister rang my phone while I was at spin class last night. Then was all in a huff when I didn't answer when she called...entitled!

Side Note...I sweated more than I've sweated in months at spinning last night..I wasn't even going to go! SO glad I did :-)

My sister Marquita..super cute I know!

Okay so my sister calls me all in a huff, bitching about the amount of weight she's gained since last September. To her defense she was working and attending school full time AND she has three kids.

I won't call my sister's weight out unless she lets me but she's picked up 32 pounds in a little over a year. I've told her on numerous occasions as her big sister it's my job that she has to focus on ONE major thing at a time. Did she listen..NOPE!

She then tells me that she is now at her highest weight. So I sense the urgency in her tone and I'm assuming she's finally at her breaking point and wants to lose her excess pounds.

I love my sister and no matter how much she doesn't listen to what I tell her, I'm always going to help her out. She asked me to help her with a workout schedule and a menu...so I'm going to. I can't monitor her progress like I did when I was in Seattle but I'll have eyes and ears on the case (my 9 year old niece Courtney)!

I'll be sharing her progress monthly on my blog, she's not going to start her own blog...I need her to stay focused! Knowing her if she did it would be all about hair!

My apologies!

I totally neglected to respond to the comments on my last blog post..my apologies!! There is always something circulating in my world and every time I say I need to respond..I forget!! My short term memory fails me on a daily basis!

I SO appreciate everyone that slides through and shows me some love! I thank you all, and I don't always comment on your blogs but I do read them!! I'm watching people progress on their journey's and figure out ways to push past road blocks..inspiring!!

My personal challenge this week:

100's...100 jumping jacks, 100 weighted squats with 10 lb dumbbells, 100 push ups and 100 crunches

*Done in sets of 20, less than 1 minute of rest between sets.

*Five times this week (I've already done it twice)

I'd like to work in 3 high intensity cardio sessions, 2 spinning classes AND a jog/run on the treadmill OR Turbo Fire? I need to write this in my planner ASAP!

As far as food goes, I'm watching my portions. I've got a baby shower on Saturday AND a planning session cocktail session with two of my fellow bloggers!!! Yay!!!

Tomorrow marks my 8th month in Houston!! Time really does fly!!

New direction!

I've been pondering my lack of motivation over the last few months, specifically this summer, and I've come to a conclusion. My ship has sailed on working out at home insert sad face here.

Gasp...did I just say that out loud??

Losing 100+ pounds at home with DVDs is one of my greatest life accomplishments. I am so very proud of this! It took a lot to stick with it when I was hitting my weight loss hard and heavy.

I've found it very difficult to push play lately and the reason is that I'm not feeling challenged. My body and brain work on constant challenges. It's time to do something different. I've never been a big fan of the gym but I do like going to the YMCA.

The YMCA has so many other things to offer outside of fitness and it's a very family oriented atmosphere. The girls always loved going to the Y in Seattle.

Not saying I'm going to trade in all of my DVDs, but my goal is to transition the majority of my workouts to the Y. I'm happy and excited! I've already got my membership so I'm all set to get going!

Surely I'll be posting soon about my Spinning addiction..I mean I really got hooked that first time around! I'd also like to jump in and try different types of classes, reviews about those will come as I go through them.

When you think about lack of motivation, always try to think about solutions as well. There's nothing worse than sitting back and just watching all of your hard work falter. I refuse to be a statistic...I figure out ways to make things happen!

*side note* First time back on the spin bike last night..felt like old times!!! Hooked!

Week in review...1/30/11

First things first this morning I have to say "welcome" to my new followers! Thanks for all of the love and support!

This last week I've been busting my ass trying to rid myself of the four pounds I picked up while chillin with my honey a couple weeks ago in NOLA! He's such a bad influence but it's all good, I racked up 65 activity points for the week! This was a must because my eating was OFF! I ate more than I should have but once again, the amount and intensity of my workouts balanced it out.

I don't want a balance this upcoming week, I want a clear deficit! I bought a super cute dress to wear at my mom's wedding reception on the 12th, as of right now there is zero room for error!

Tomorrow I weigh in for my WW online account. I'm feeling very positive about seeing a drop since last week. I want to get to my range and live happily ever after there lol!

Anyhoo, this upcoming week will be jam packed with sweat sessions!

M- Jillian M. Circuit training w/o weights 40 min
T- Jillian M. Circuit training w/ weights 40 min (am), Spinning 60 min (pm)
W- rest
TH- Jillian M. Circuit training w/ weights 40 min (am), Spinning 60 min (pm)
F- Turbo Fire 45 EZ 45 min
S- Turbo Fire HIIT 20, Spinning 60 min
SU- Turbo Fire 55 EZ 55 min

Whew!! I'm tired just thinking about it but I'm ready to get it in! I love my workouts, truly it takes off the edge and relieves a lot of my stress.

I'll be back later with a post about the other stuff going on in my life. I'm even considering doing a vlog, it would be a first for me...please don't hold your breath waiting for me to do it! HA!

First weekly check in of 2011!

I couldn't possibly show my (in badly need of a pedicure) feet on the scale so I snapped the picture after I stepped off! After hovering around 173 the last three weeks, I'm back on the losing train! My life is going back to some type of normalcy which is great.

My first full week on the Points Plus plan was a success, I lost 3 pounds! I must admit, I like the changes in the new plan. I love being able to use my activity points before dipping into my weekly allowance. Last week I racked up 49 activity points! I LOVE that you receive way more points for activity as well.
My workout schedule was this:

Mon- Rest
Tues- (AM) Turbo Fire 45 min, (PM) Spinning 60 min
Wed- Rest
Thu- Spinning 60 min, Core 20 min
Fri- Turbo Fire 55 min
Sat- Spinning 45 min

Kicking and screaming I'm trying to take my workouts down to five days a week from six. I no longer have to kill myself to get the results I desire. I noticed that my body was having minor aches & pains continuously in certain spots, I can't have that happening!

I know the only thing that kept me from gaining weight last week was my workouts, I ate all types of snacks and treats smdh! I did figure what I ate into my points values for the day but it was still more than I should have consumed.

This week I'm trying to get in five workouts, I'm heading to Houston on Thursday to get a few things prepped for my move then spending the weekend in Louisiana with my honey! I'm so excited, I need a little break :-)

Thirty Days of ME...Day 18

Day Eighteen- Plans/dreams/goals you have
Having goals, a plan to make them a reality and dreaming makes up a huge part of who I am. As I wrote in a previous post, my issue at times is completion of my goal. For the last year and a half (almost) my goal has been weight loss related. I've been eating, sleeping and breathing weight loss!

A few of my short term goals (within two years) are;

Relocating to Houston
Finding a nice job with great benefits once I get there
Obtaining my ACE personal training certification
Obtaining my Spinning & Turbo Kick certifications respectively
Marriage to the love of my life and possibly one more baby :-)
Purchasing a home

A dream of mine is to become an entrepreneur doing something that I am passionate about. At this time I don't know if it will be health & fitness related or somehow related to my art? This is something that I've always wanted to do and I will make it happen!

The weekly check in 11/22/10

I'm checking in today because yesterday I wasn't feeling well. I didn't complete my morning workout and walked out the front door to the beginning of snow fall. My plan was to get my workout done when I made it home, no such luck!! It took me three hours to get home (due to Seattle's first winter storm) and it normally takes me twenty minutes to get home!

To make matters worse, I live on a steep hill and my car cannot make it up the hill. So I parked at the grocery store at the bottom of the hill and walked the rest of the way home. Needless to say when I finally made it inside I was too cold and too agitated to do anything but eat dinner and go to bed!

Anyhoo, I stepped on the scale this morning and I'm at 172.6! This is down 1.2 pounds from last Monday. I'm glad the scale is still moving down! I just might make it to 170 by next Monday! I wasn't able to complete all of the workouts I schuled but I still worked out 6 days last week at least once a day. Food was on point again as well. I did eat out at one of my favorite restaurants (Joey's) on Sunday.

Even with Thanksgiving being this week my determination to lose weight will not rest. I will not partake in the gluttony that is "Thanksgiving." I don't let holidays derail all of my hard work. I've worked too damn hard to let myself just fall completely off the wagon. I enjoy what I like in total moderation. This way I don't feel deprived. I also don't bring home leftovers. Tempation is a bitch when you know you LOVE baked mac n cheese and you have an entire plate of it in the fridge lol!

With all of that said I had another great week! I'm planning for this week to be even better in spite of the nasty weather surrounding Seattle! I'm pissed that I'm missing my beloved Spin class tonight but I'll get over it :-)

Yesterday was a great day!

Yesterday was a GREAT day for my food intake and workouts! As of yesterday I decided to go back to tracking points with Weight Watchers. I have bounced back and forth with this on numeral occasions but finally realize that this is the most effective system for me for food tracking. My daily alloted points number is 23. I had an additional 8 activity points from my two workouts. I only ended up using 3 points from my activity allotment so I had a net 5 points left over for the day. I also drank my goal 96 ounces of water.

I had a split workout and completed Turbo Fire 45 in the morning and 40 minutes of Ultimate Tae Bo in the evening. I haven’t done my Ultimate Tae Bo DVD since May or June…I think?? It’s been so long I really don’t remember! My metabolism must have been running out of control while I was asleep because when I woke up this morning I was sweating like crazy! This is a very good thing in my book and it put a smile on my face! My workouts for today will be:

Turbo Fire HIIT 20 (AM)

Zumba Abs (AM)

Upper body strength training (PM)

Spinning 60 minutes (PM)

I live for Wednesday’s lol! This is the only rest day I take and tomorrow I’m thinking about doing Turbo Fire 40 minute Stretch routine and taking a long hot bath!

Today's workout 10/21/10

I woke up this morning at 4 am to get the first part of my workout completed. I do not drink coffee, nor do I really need an alarm to wake me up! My body has become accustomed to this routine and even on the weekends there is no such thing as sleeping in for me! If I’m in the bed at 7 am on Saturday or Sunday that’s what I call sleeping in…SMDH! Today’s workout looks something like this….

Turbo Fire – HIIT 15

30 Day Shred – Level #1

Spinning – 60 minute class

Zumba Abs

Yes..this is a crazy schedule and no..I don’t do this everyday! Wednesday’s are typically the one day a week that I take off so Tuesday and Thursday I go HARD! My methods work for ME so I will not be changing how I roll…holla!

Spinning!!

I stepped outside of my comfort zone this morning (workout DVDs) and braved my first spinning class. Arriving at the YMCA at 8 am, I wasn't quite sure what to expect? What I got was a heart pumping, fast paced, ass kicking bike ride! Now mind you I had already completed level one of the 30 day shred before I left the house! My legs felt like jello when all was done but I think I did a pretty darn good job of keeping up...even the instructor said so :-)!

I felt amazing once the 60 minutes was up, we actually rode for 50 minutes with a 10 minute cool down. I walked out of there with another "FAV" workout to add to my list! The instructor warned me that I'd probably feel a bit sore tomorrow and I brushed it off, I workout 6 days a week...how much soreness would I actually feel? Well as I'm typing this (not even 24 hours later) my ass is ridiculously sore and I can barely sit down but I'm still trying to figure out where I can squeeze in another spinning class before next Saturday! That's what love and dedication is all about!

For me a lot of my journey is about finding new ways to physically challenge my body. I want to do things that I never thought I'd be able to or want to do. Spinning WAS one of those things. My mission continues!
