Friday...food and foolishness!

It's finally Friday and I hear crickets chirping at my office..nobody is here! Shit why am I here then?? Oh yeah I have menu planning, blogging, web surfing work to do *side eye*

I don't believe I mentioned this but a good friend of mine (known since middle school) relocated from Seattle to Houston at the beginning of September. So we've been shacking..she's got a 12 (almost 13) year old daughter as well. I know she'll read this post so I have to give her a shout out...hey Mo!!

Okay so let's get to the foolishness! The girls have a constant three ring circus going on around us! Between the playing, the constant requests for treats, the hustling of extended bed times..it's a mess! It's complete chaos but on the other hand lots of fun!

I've managed to get workouts done here and there but nothing like I'm used to. We sneak out the house to Jack In The Box for chocolate overload cakes..this shit is getting out of hand!

My friend and I can't allow the girls to sabotage the weight loss efforts! I've gained and lost the same five pounds over the last few months several times. They key to continued success is planning, planning and more planning so that's what we've got to do! I've been saying for months that I need to get back to my menu planning but seriously now more than ever it's imperative that I do.

I've printed a new menu planning template and now it's time to get to work! The kids are not allowed to protest the menu! If they don't like it...TOUGH! One week out of the month will be dedicated to raw dinners. The girls aren't feeling this BUT again they don't have a choice!

Hopefully I'll be able to get a few pics posted from my weekend! Catch y'all in a few days!

Weigh day! Stats! Mommy's birthday!

I have to start this post by first giving my mom a happy birthday shout out! Without her, there is no me. She is a huge part of why I am the woman that I am today! Love and miss you mom!

My mom :-)

Okay back to my weigh day and stats! I had to bury my old scale (may she RIP) a few days ago *sigh*...we had a good run together! So on Monday the girl's and I made a run to Target to pick up a new scale! I must admit I am smitten with her lol!!

Weight 6/1/11, 162.2

Stats look like this...

Bust: 33.5
Waist: 28.5
Hips: 39.5
Thighs: (R) 22.75, (L) 23

Total weight lost in May: 0.8 lbs

Total inches lost: 1.25 in

June body shot

I am finally starting to notice the progress in my abs!! Finally!!! I believe having two c-sections is playing a role in the slow journey back to flat abs...smdh!

I set a goal last month to complete four weeks of Jillian Michaels' Ripped in 30, this did not happen! I have yet to even complete weeks 3 & 4 workouts! Throughout my journey I've learned a few things about my body.

My body responds well to constant confusion. Meaning, the intensity and style of my workouts have to vary from week to week for me to see and feel a difference.

I've already noticed change with my current schedule 3 days on, 1 day rest cardio/strength split. Basically I'm doing three days of cardio, and three days of strength training on alternate days. I'm not planning my workouts more than one week out at a time.

Goals for this month:

* Continue my split routine with various workouts
* Start lifting heavier weights
* Bid farewell to the 160's
* Menu planning 1 week out...seriously I've been sloughing on this and I have NO excuses

Thank you all for continuing to follow and support my journey!

Recipe swap for a June menu!

Menu planning is KEY to consistent successful weight loss and maintenance. I'll admit, I've fallen completely off the wagon with my menu planning and I can see the difference with my progress.

I've had several people ask me to make a menu for them. In all honesty it takes too much time to create individual menus. So I've come up with an idea that just might work for everyone!

I'm asking my blog buddies and Facebook friends to submit 1 healthy dinner recipe! I'll compile the recipes to create a dinner menu for June (time permitting). I will then email them to everyone. If I don't have them all in time for June, I'll shoot for July!

To keep it simple and cost effective, recipes should be 6 ingredients or less, not including spices. Recipes should include nutrition information. sparkpeople.com has a recipe builder on their site that allows you to enter your ingredients and servings and it will give you the nutrition facts.

I'll need all submissions by 5/27! You can email them to me at miesharoshawn@gmail.com. Make sure to leave your name in the subject line. You don't have to stick to the menu religiously, but hopefully this can give you a guide for better eating and planning! Let's have fun with this!!

Ripped in 30!!

My Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 DVD arrived yesterday! On Sunday May 1st for 30 days, 6 days a week this will be my program!! I am a HUGE fan of Jillian's workouts! Her personality..not so much of a fan.. but she knows the right combinations to use to effectively change the shape of your physique.

I will continue using my Turbo Fire workouts for additional cardio 3-4 days a week. Also I am taking on clean eating! I do fairly well with food but I still occasionally slip up with my sugar cravings!

I am determined to remove more jiggle and replace it with sexy muscle!

Play time is over (my mom always says that...lmao) summer is right around the corner! I'll be posting my week in review on Sunday's, sharing my thoughts on the workouts and how I think my body is responding to the clean eating.

I'm debating whether or not I should post progress pics each week?

Anyhoo, I've been saying I need to get back to menu planning so that's happening as well! Watch me WERQ!!! LOL!

The weekly check in 10/25/10

I weighed in this morning and I am down 0.6 from 177.6 last week, putting me at 177 even! Yay me!! I am now down 98 pounds overall since starting my journey! I am SO looking forward to hitting the 100 pounds down mark…I’ll have to work HARD this week! Last week was another great week as well, I completed all of my workouts and made it to spinning on Thursday night. I’m totally falling in love with spinning! It’s giving me that extra jolt I need.

As far as food is concerned, I did well but I could have done better. I am still working on kicking my Twix a day habit LOL! I am a constant work in progress…don’t judge me! I must get back to planning my menus! I’ve been such a slough bucket when it comes to this. I know what I can and can’t do to keep the scale from going up and I’ve got a pretty good handle on portion control, I just need to preplan. I still write down everything that I eat and drink. I’m looking forward to this week and hopefully knocking down that 100 pounds lost mark…let’s get it!

Meal planning

I have learned the great importance and value of meal planning. Knowing what I’m going to eat the week prior and what I have to buy at the grocery store saves me time and money. I know people that plan menus 2-4 weeks out but for me I like to only pre-plan 1 week in advance. I change my mind about what I’d like to eat on a fairly regular basis so this works best for me. The idea is to get into the regular habit of planning your meals. I will attach a sample menu that I’ve created for myself shortly.
