Week 2: Project 35 by 35

I completed my second week! As far as exercise goes I was on point. Here are my totals for the week:

I am happy to report that I am down 2.8 pounds since March 4th! I plan to average a loss of 1.3-1.5 a week so I'm right on track.

I worked out 6 days this week! First time in a very long time that I've done 6 days! I'm not even going to lie, it felt damn good! My body responds well to workouts. For whatever reason my body has a strong hold on this excess weight but I'll be damned!

I'm back on the pill and I think that has something to do with it? But regardless I'm still going to reach my goal kicking and screaming!!

Fine in 50 update!

Okay so I'm still participating in the Fine in 50 challenge hosted by Ro that started on January 7 and will conclude on February 25th.

I didn't take my measurements on the start date but I did weigh in. I have measurements from September that are more than likely the same.

Since starting the challenge I am down a total of 6.4 pounds!

The jump start was me getting the damn flu the first week!!! FML!!! I mean of all weeks the week that I'm actually motivated to get my ass moving again!!

I wish I could say that I've been 100% on it....I cannot lie...I haven't been *sigh*. I can say that I've consistently started working out again which feel AMAZING...I've increased my water intake and I've cut out a TON of sugar! I've had a few situations run ins with fast food and alcohol but not enough to elaborate on lol!

I cook on a fairly regular basis so I'm not struggling with that. Being mindful of portions though 0_o

I do weigh myself weekly but I don't plan on posting about the challenge again until I reveal my results!!

How I'm living!

This workout is EVERYTHING!!

I love me some Jeanette Jenkins!! I already own a few of her DVDs so I'm pretty familiar with her workout style. I bought this the same week that it was released but Sunday was my first real/serious attempt at doing the workout.

Baaaabbbyyyy when I tell you I cursed this chick...I'm not playing!! She starts out at a fairly moderate pace then just keeps hammering you until you start to cuss!!

Start to finish it's an hour and a half worth of work. I completed an hour and 15 minutes which isn't too bad right?? My calorie burn according to my Polar HRM was 865!!! Yup!! No complaints here!!

By the time I reached the Ring The Bell Mat Work section which is second to last before cool down I was tired! I made it through the second abs exercise and said "F" it I'm out lol!!

All in all I'm going to grade this workout an "A"

Mainly because it's two days later and I'm still struggling to sit down without using my hands to soften the impact 0_o. My ass isn't the only body part hurting...everything hurts so therefore that lets me know I got a kick ass full body workout!!

Because I like the sequence of the entire workout (you can pick and choose the sections you want to do if short on time) I plan to do it once or twice per week.

If you were contemplating trying it...JUST DO IT!!

Return of the weekly update!!

Where I'm at..

Basic Stats:

Bust: 36
Waist: 33
Hips: 45
Thighs: 26 (each)

It's been a minute since I faithfully posted weekly about my journey. I'm proud to say that I'm B-A-C-K!!! Like for real back! Last week was awesome! I set a weight loss goal for the week, a food goal and workout goal!

My weight loss goal for last week was 6 pounds, I lost 4.4 pounds. I'm okay with that :)) This week my goal is a 2.6 loss.

I'm proud to say that I stuck to my menu the food I prepared last Sunday for lunches, dinners and snacks Mon-Friday! I also consumed no less than 64 oz of water per day! I tracked what I ate, this was fairly easy since my meals were prepped.

I completed five of my six workouts. Main reason why I didn't do them all?? I got sick (insert sad face here)! I started to not feel so great late Wednesday night and by Friday I was a total mess. Started to feel better Saturday but rested on Sunday instead of completing my missed day. I'm still congested this morning...I'll workout this evening once I make it home.

One cheat meal which was Thursday, a Thai dinner with a certain someone that brought me these...

Accompanied by a Twix bar which was my one treat allowed for the week! I ate it on Friday as I was too full to eat it after dinner...piggy!

I am allowing myself one cheat meal per week...not day AND one treat per week my choice.

I find this helps me to stay on track. I'm going to be brutally honest about the 30 pounds I've gained since this time last year. It's not pretty but it's honest and it's real, something I've always been. I'm addressing it and I've already lost 5 of it!

I'm working to get back to my goal weight of 165 by my 2 year maintaining date which is January 15, 2013. I'll take progress pics on October 1, then continually the 1st of each month. My weekly weigh day is Monday, I'll report in each week.

This is a long post but here is some of my food prepped for this week!

Roasted squash & zucchini, clean turkey muffins, honey mustard tilapia & salmon, brown rice casserole

Roasted tomato & pepper soup

Roasted veggies for the soup above

Last weekend dinners...

Grilled chicken, mushroom & spinach wrap

Stir fry chicken

Yesterday's breakfast plate..

Have an awesome week!!

I'm up!!

It's late Tuesday night and I'm up thinking. Evening workouts bite...I'm revved up like a mofo! You'd think I'd be tired since I did HIIT in the 5' o'clock hour this morning...not so much!

I recorded a vlog over the weekend which I need to upload. I did it on my iPad so it takes a little longer to render, my patience is a constant work in progress (sigh). It's a mini haul, my getting back to happy update!

I decided last week that I really needed to get my ass in gear and hop back on my healthy lifestyle journey. So what did I do?? I cooked and prepped my food for the week Sunday afternoon! It took me about 3 1/2 hours to complete all the cooking. Majority of my shopping was done Saturday...take a look!

5 lbs chicken breast that I seasoned before the George Forman grill...yes ma'am I still use mine!!

Shepard's pie...a lean version!

What my lunches look like...

It was a labor of love but totally worth the effort!! I have a goal to drop 6 pounds this week, I'll share my results next Monday when I weigh in again. I'm not counting any calories just eating my prepared meals.

My fridge!

I also scheduled 6 workouts for the week...I'm back!!

And the journey continues!

I've been dealing with SO MUCH bullshit I had lost my mojo! My personal life has somehow managed to overshadow and take a front seat to my healthy lifestyle journey.

I've been stressing and it's showing up on the scale! I am sharing my weigh ins (for the last 7 wks) which are on Monday's.

6/18- 187.8
6/25- 186.6
7/2- 185.4
7/9- 185.8
7/16- 184.4
7/23- 189.8
7/30- 187.0

This is the heaviest I've been in two years. I've decided instead of becoming depressed I'm going to just buckle down and take action! I did complete all five of my scheduled workouts this week! First time in a long time!

On August 1st I will post my scale pic, weight, progress pics and stats. My goal is to be at or below my goal weight (165) by Jan 1, 2013. This will be just in time for my 2 year anniversary of keeping it off.

On the 1st I will also go over my plan, goals and rewards. It's back to the basics for me. I know exactly what I have to do to get back on track. I haven't really taken too many pictures lately but I'll share my latest Instagram shots!

This ish here smfh...only in Seattle can you bring your furniture into downtown Seattle via Uhaul to watch the Torchlight parade lol

Thanks for all of your continued support! Yes I'm strong but I'm human. Will I get through this...absolutely! Will it be easy...probably not!

God is still working on me and he hasn't brought me this far to let me down now! I live by that :)

Cleaning house...glad she's GONE!

It's been a minute but my life has been in complete disarray over the past couple of weeks. I ended things with my honey so I thought Wednesday last week and then my so called friend moved out of the house we shared last Friday unannounced.

Yes she breeched our lease contract and left me to take care of the mess but it's all good. Wasn't even woman enough to say anything, left a note smh. God don't like ugly!

One of my last posts I talked about the ending of my friendship. At this point I'm glad that she's gone. I can't go into detail what actions are going to be taken due to legal reasons but please know that my girls and I are okay and I will end up on top.

This is a great lesson not only for me but my girls as well. Everyone IS NOT your friend and there are people that use others for their own personal gain. She was a user, point, blank, period. I don't expect any good to come to her until she "rights" her "wrongs." How she handled herself and the situation was foul, I rest easy knowing when karma knocks on her door she has an ass whooping coming!

That's being real!

Ironically the man I ended things with came to me and said he'd help me financially if I needed him to. He let me vent to him, no complaining, just let me get out what I needed to let go. I love him dearly, he is my best friend. I'm not sure what's going to happen at this point but we are working on things.

I've got a lot going on but my stress level is now minimized knowing I'm back to relying on myself to get things done. I won't be taking on another roommate situation, I wouldn't care if my girls and I were in a studio lol! I will post about about getting back into my journey, will begin posting updates on 8/1.

The stress of the last few months has most definitely shown up on the scale. The number is astounding....I have a plan! I need it gone....cleaning house literally!

The journey...good news and bad

Good news first! I'm being considered for People magazine Half Their Size issue! I'm not sure when I'll find out if my story will be in it but of course I'll share ASAP!

Bad news...

Moving right along with what I've been going through during my blog break, next subject is my journey. With moving and the stress of my relationship I have pretty much lost focus. Slowly I'm bringing things back in order but I'm having to wean myself from this terrible sugar and junk food habit that I've picked up!

Last week I did three Turbo Fire workouts but I also ate like shit SO I think that cancels out the workouts lmao! You name it, I've been eating it! Cookies, caramel sundaes from McDonalds, cake, chips...shit's been real! Guess what though??? I really didn't give a fuck about the weight gain (yes I've gained about 10) until last week.

Call me crazy but my life no longer revolves around my scale. But I don't like this jiggle and clearly it's because of junk food! Mentally I had to check out. Most people trying to lose weight don't understand the pressure of keeping it off. All you can see is getting rid of it...then what?

I've touched on this subject before and it is the reality of weight loss. People look to me for advice and inspiration but sometimes I want to eat/behave like the fat girl I used to be! Sometimes I could care less about working out, that's reality.

Then my other reality really sets in yes I have two realities I worked extremely hard to lose it, I like wearing a size 10 and my health has to be a top priority. That's the bottom line.

Unfortunately I didn't finish the Jamie Eason program. There are two reasons for that. 1) With moving I couldn't stay consistent with the schedule..too much to do and too many places to be! 2) The YMCA I belong to didn't have all of the machines and equipment needed to properly complete phases 2 & 3.

The first phase of the program was killer and I was seeing results so thumbs up on that!

So what's next?? I wanted to do another round of Turbo Fire but I'm bored with the music! I love the workouts but I need a new soundtrack. I'm suspending my Y membership for now so that I can put that extra money towards buying a house. Besides working out at home is my bread and butter! 100+ pounds lost at home, it works for me! Issue is I need new DVDs!

I ordered Jillian Michaels' Kickbox FastFix DVD yesterday...reviews to follow!

Have you heard Jillian Michaels has released a new 90 day at home workout called Body Revolution??? My friend just told me about it and I'm seriously considering purchasing it! I have mentioned on many occasions that I am a Jillian fan! Her workouts have given me great results in the past. Reading up on it it has a similar structure to the ever popular Beachbody workouts. Cost is about $135 with shipping & handling, payments can be split into 4! That's what I paid for Turbo Fire and in my opinion worth every single penny!

Anyone willing to purchase it and do it with me????

Until tomorrow loves :-)

I really needed this break!

I've been M.I.A. for over a month now, and I've missed posting to my blog! I've definitely missed my buddies in blog land (waves at new followers...I see you boo!) although like normal (when I take mini breaks) I have been reading and commenting here and there on your blogs!

There's a lot to catch you all up on so I'll break it down in sections over the next few days. Today I want to talk about life in general and the reasons why I haven't been posting.

THE MOVE

My friend and I moved into a nice big rental home almost two weeks ago! 5 bd/3 ba...2200+ square feet big! For what we believed would be a fairly simple move turned out to be one of that from hell! From start to finish it was a pain in the ass!

My pretty new duvet cover!

Needless to say somehow (with God's grace and mercy) we managed to get through it. I will say this though, the next place I move into I WILL OWN! Which brings me to my next subject!

HOME OWNERSHIP

I am very serious when I say that it is time for me to buy my own home. Since I don't foresee myself being married in the near future I must think and make plans solely on my ability to make it happen. Scary...a little bit, but I have to think about my girls and my stability for them in the future.

After much research, I found out that there are a ton of resources in Houston! You must be willing to educate yourself on the process and put in the work! That's how I run my life so I'm confident that I'll be able to do it!

Keep me in your prayers as I trudge through these unfamiliar muddy waters! I'll keep y'all posted on the process!

My most recent picture :-)

Tomorrow I plan to post about my relationship, then I'd like to talk about my journey and what's been happening with that!

Lastly I want to fill you in on a recent project AND my blog direction again! I wish I had the time to record and edit a vlog...but I don't so I'll try to catch you up best I can with pics!

Happy Monday!

Sharing some love :-)

Happy Valentines Day loves!

I receive emails weekly from people that I know and some that I've never met personally but know through my blog, Facebook, Twitter etc. I have said this before, I honestly never intended to motivate others. In the messages that I receive, I am told all of the time that I inspire and motivate.

Here's a message I received last week:

This post was anonymous so I wasn't able to send a direct message to the author but I'm saying here that a appreciate all the love :-). You telling someone about me and my story makes me smile! I feel blessed!

If I've said something that pushes you to make changes or inspired you with my old pictures I'll keep doing it! I'm rooting for all of you that are actively working towards improving your health!

Always remember that loving and taking care of yourself FIRST is the most important thing you can do not only for you, but your loved ones as well!

XOXO

Lets talk weight 0_o...Facebook & Twitter hiatus!

As I continue on my lifelong journey to maintaining consistent health and fitness, the more I realize that I really don't like talking about weight loss with people. Not because I'm being an ass, I just don't get the point in going into detail about what I do in a lengthy conversation? I understand my weight loss is a topic of conversation but that's not what I like to talk about all of the time!

I've all but removed myself from all of the social network "groups" I was added to for fitness and weight loss..was recently added to another and I'll be leaving that one soon too! I get that I'm in a position to offer hope and inspiration to those who are struggling with weight loss, but the group setting is not my thing! In my personal opinion I believe you will get more from me by reading and following my blog.

My story is here! What I've been doing, how I do it...all here! You're not going to get the full effect from me by me piggy backing off another persons comment on Facebook. If you want to know me, get to know me here! I don't hide aspects of my life. Primarily I talk about weight loss and my fitness goals here, but I also talk about my girls, my honey...basically all things Miesha!

It feels like I'm being backed into a corner! There are a lot of things that I dislike about the weight loss game! I respect those that are serious about changing their habits and overall health. I can't get with those that issue a new challenge every month but fall off after a week! I just can't! So please if you have a "group" on Facebook...DON'T ADD ME!!

Also I am on a month long FB and Twitter hiatus! I'll be back February 16th. I need a break plus my blog needs me :-).

Here are my workout logs from Tuesday and today:

Healthy Lifestyle Meet Up- Help Through The Holiday's!

I'm a lil tardy for the party, as the other ladies have already posted about our first meet up last weekend! Please cut me some slack..thanks!

The ladies and I!

The weather was absolutely perfect for the walk! It was nice meeting the ladies that I hadn't already met. After the walk at Hermann Park we ate lunch at Hungry's Cafe.

I had had this! Tex-Mex omelette, black beans and new potatoes...Delish!

I'd never been to Hungry's before, the food was pretty good! I didn't walk out feeling overly stuffed which is a great thing being that we were meeting to work on our healthy lifestyle!

So our next event is in the works...SKATING!!! Woot Woot! I haven't been on skates in years BUT I'm up for the challenge! For those of you that didn't come to the walk, come kick it with us at the rink! Tentative date is Saturday, December 3rd. Details soon to follow!

Thanks to all the ladies that participated Ro @ Ro Gets Fit, Trina @ Me So Hongry, Makiea @ Interior Intensive, Shawn @ Changing Weighs, Dee @ Just Dee AND my girl Mo, who doesn't blog but is committed to a healthy lifestyle as well!

Our girls Reiko @ Gods Favorite Shoes, Juanette @ Fashion Nette-Work ALMOST had lunch with us...but did share a few laughs before we parted ways!

Please have NO reservation about coming to hang with us if you couldn't make it! We all have a common goal to support each other and crack jokes in between!

Weigh day..and a lil something fun!

It's that time again, weigh day! One way I hold myself accountable is to be completely honest with my journey.

Scale pic 11/1/11

I believe that's up a little over five pounds since the beginning of last month? It could be worse...trust me! Losing 100+ pounds wasn't as difficult for me as maintaining my loss. I haven't been tracking my eating but I have been working out. I know that planning and tracking is even more important than working out. Today I am committing to tracking everything I eat for the next 30 days. Good, bad or ugly I'm writing it down!

This just came to me but I now understand that reaching my goal weight was like chasing a high (I've never done drugs but I can imagine)! I have to be straight up honest with you when I say, that high of chasing my goal weight is gone because once I reached it, the high was gone!

I've flip-flopped a few times about what my next goal will be, I still don't really know? I like the way my body looks between 160-165. I like the sexiness of lean muscle too! When I really know...y'all will be the first to know!

I could talk about my workouts and food but I'd much rather share my girls' Halloween pictures now! They are growing up SO fast! I think they were calling themselves Diva Fairy Princesses lol!

If you haven't already got in touch with me regarding the meet up on 11/12...please do so!!

Sitting and thinking...

I had every intention to post about my outfit that I planned to wear to church yesterday..I was READY! Okay so when I woke up yesterday it was cold outside! That totally killed my planned outfit! Anyhoo, my baby Mimi took this picture of me yesterday and I LOVE it, so I'm bragging lol! For a six year old she's pretty talented! I'll try again next week for the outfit post!

November is knock, knock, knocking on the door and I've been thinking about the goals I set for 2011. In my humble opinion, I think I've done a fairly good job of accomplishing the majority of the list. Take a look here at my 2011 Goals. I just read over them again and I've done a damn good job! *pats myself on the back*

There are a few things that will carry over into 2012 as I expected along with new things! I am already thinking about my goals for 2012..what can I say, I am a planner!

There is one thing that I most want to focus on and that is evolving my blog into addressing my entire lifestyle. Although my weight loss and healthy living is a huge part of my life, it's not my entire life.

I've tried to merge all aspects of my life into my blog before with little success, so I'd like to spend the next two months figuring it out. I'd like the transition to be smooth and seamless..wish me luck!

I'm aiming for 2012 to be full of adventures and accomplishments..we speak things into existence!
