Weigh day..FRESH new look!

October??? Is that you??? Well I'll be damned! It's that time of the month, weigh day!

*I did actually weigh myself on the first*

10/1/11..weight 166.2

Again I wish could say I had a great September but that would be a lie and I'm a terrible liar! In my last post I mentioned my lack of motivation was due to needing a change in my workout routine.

I went to the YMCA twice last week for spinning. Without a doubt it's the change that I needed! This week I plan to spin two times, try a new cardio class and lift weights two times.

I've got a fresh new look! I cut my hair...finally!! I'm not going to bore you with progress pics this month, there hasn't been much change in my body since last month. I'm thinking about only posting progress pics quarterly now? Just a thought?

I can barely contain the excitement I have for an upcoming event next month!!! Details soon to follow :-)!

Plans for October are to schedule my weekly workouts and menus. Nothing more..nothing less!

Let's all work towards a healthy upcoming holiday season!

Mi- Inspire Healthy Lifestyle Transformation Guides

I've finally completed another project I've been working on! Encouraged by the countless emails, comments and questions I've received since reaching my goal weight, I've written the first Mi-Inspire guide!

Everyday I receive an email asking what I did to lose weight? What do I eat, what my workouts are, how do I stay motivated..etc? Now 99% of these questions are answered throughout my blog BUT I understand some folks need a direct tangible reference.

As you can imagine I've answered the same questions many times! Unfortunately I don't have time to answer questions in depth from each person that asks me, I do have a job, kids and a man lol! I figured it would be smart to put everything in one place.

The first guide is all about what I did to start my healthy lifestyle transformation and how I stay consistent. In the second guide I will address food and of course the third will be about my workouts.

I'm sure there will be more eventually but for right now that's all I've got! The first guide is available for purchase here on my blog...YAY! If you've got $5 to spare please check it out! If you want to start changing your habits and don't know where to begin then this guide is for you! If you lack motivation it's for you as well! Or maybe you haven't read each of my previous posts and want to know how I'm keeping off the 110 pounds that I've lost? It's in this guide!

Feedback is greatly appreciated from everyone that does purchase the guide! It will help me build, grow and learn! Thank you all so very much for supporting me constantly!!

Road to #140..stacked, sexy, lean muscle!

I've been quiet this week, reading blog posts with limited comments. I'm still getting my *e-hugs* and love from y'all which is helping me tremendously!

Have you ever wanted something SO bad but just didn't know how to get it? That's where I'm at with my relationship. This question can also directly relate to weight loss. Truth be told the frustration of my relationship is fucking me up right now.

I'm all thrown off. Eating like crap, skipping workouts, drinking...you name it...I've been doing it! This is hard, emotionally I am drained. I'm not a quitter, I can't let what's going on keep me from moving forward towards my goals.

I need to focus on something I have complete control over, which brings me to the topic of this post. I've decided to set a brand new goal for myself that I intend to take seriously.

The NEW goal is to shape a figure competitor's body..minus the competing (for now). For this to become a reality many things I am doing as of now must change.

I've written a detailed list of goals and rewards which I will share a little later. For now I'm mentally preparing myself for this next phase of my lifestyle transformation. I've gotten comfy, change cannot happen unless I push myself to my limit and beyond!

I want a body of envy, I don't give a shit about anyone else's opinion! Follow me on my road to #140..stacked, sexy, lean muscle!

Friday's motivation!

My good friend Kenya posted this on my Facebook wall last night. As you could imagine it brought me to tears!

Kenya Gordon posted on your Wall:

"Just wanted to drop you a line and tell you how truly beautiful you are. Yeah, you have lost some pounds, yeah you have made a physical transformation. But from the inside out, you are absolutely fabulous. The confidence you exude now, the leap of faith you took to relocate with your girls to a new chapter, is something to be applauded and I am truly proud of you. When I met you, you always had the confidence and outspokenness, that I saw in myself and that is why we hit it off instantly and have remained friends. Keep growing, keep sharing your light and more than else, keep being you. I love you and love who you are and who you continue to grow to be....AMAZING..."

This has to be one of THE nicest things anyone has ever said to me...

This is EXACTLY the fuel needed to motivate my passions! I have so many reasons to smile! Although this has been an off week for me so to speak, I cannot deny my blessings! Therefore I keep pushing!

What a difference a year makes!

Last year this time I was quite happy with my weight loss progress. This year I am amazed with it! Although I have witnessed my own transformation through my pictures, I thought it would be fun to do a same style Memorial Day picture since my outfit was easy to repeat!

These are the same tanks but I need to buy a size small, these are getting too long! The skinny jeans aren't the same, I think last year the jeans were a size 16, possibly a size 14?? This year they are a size 10 and are getting too big as well!

Next year I aim to be ecstatic about my progress! Hard work continues to pay off!

So what's next?

First and foremost I have to give a BIG thank you and virtual hugs to everyone that voted for me in the Beachbody Million Dollar Body Game!! Winners of this round will be announced on April 29th!

I'm excited about the outcome, I've worked SO hard at changing my body. I've also heard from a ton of people in the past week telling me that I am inspiring them to get moving! I'm humbled by it all, a bit overwhelming for me. Sharing my weight loss journey is leading me down a path I never could have dreamed for myself.

When people were telling me a year ago that I should start motivational speaking, I laughed! Who me?? Miesha Roshawn?? Nope! I'm SO quiet and reserved, when I was younger my mother called it "sneaky!"

Seriously though I've got so many things to consider. Sky is the limit as far as I'm concerned!

I see beauty in many things...

The ceiling at the Houston Children's Museum

There is a beautiful meaning and purpose behind my story. I now know what that is!

OMG!!! Does the scale say 165.4???

I can officially say "bye bye to the 170's!! I'm happy!! This morning my weight is 165.4!!! My original weight loss target was 165! This means I am sporting a 109.6 pound loss!! I am jumping for joy!

Again my feet need to be done (doing that tonight) so you're not going to catch my toes showing on the scale...smdh! I feel proud, excited and even more motivated to drop more.

I have worked, worked and worked some more for this. I've been at it for 17 months now. I indeed hit my target, my goal was to reach 165 by January 2011, I have done that! Share my joy!!

Climbing into my old pants lol!

These are a pair of size 22 wide leg Venezia jeans that I wore last year. I liked the wide leg, but these jeans at one point were super snug around the waist! As you can see not only I can fit my entire body in one of the pant legs...my daughter's were both able to climb in with me lol!!!

Again, another pair of old work slacks...size 20...fitting in one leg! These pants are being held for illustration purposes only!

The weekly check in 11/15/10

It’s time once again for my weekly weigh in!! As of yesterday I am down 2.4 pounds from last Monday putting me at 173.8! My workouts have been crazy tough but well worth it, the payoff is soooooo sweeeet! As far as food goes, I did fairly well and stayed within my points most days. I normally have 3-7 activity points available everyday except Wednesday (rest day) so that makes things easier. I know for a fact my flex points were taken up by the pesky Halloween candy that is still lingering around my house! I took the liberty of locking up the remainder of it in the trunk of my car! I have to do what I have to do, my kids don’t need all of that candy but I do give them (and myself) treats!

I am attempting to add more pictures of myself and my day-to-day comings and goings on my posts. At some point I’ll create a video about my journey. I enjoy viewing and reading about others on the same path to wellness. This blog is about continuing to step outside of my comfort zone. I am creating an entirely new comfort zone for myself and it feels good!

100 pounds down!!! I did it!!!

I made a guarantee that I would reach my 100 pounds down mark by Monday, November 1st but that didn't happen. But you know what? I worked my ass of this week and I hit it today!!! I am ecstatic and very proud of what I've accomplished! This hasn't been easy for me and I'll never make light of the hard work it took and will continue to take. This journey is something that I live, think, breathe etc...every single day. I don't take long breaks, I'm always mindful of my actions. If I don't get my exercise in, I always think about the missed opportunity to change the number on the scale.

Eating right and working out has become my lifestyle. I'm not doing anything that will ultimately jeopardize me reaching my goal. In order for me to stay on track I cannot go back to my old ways. I have to keep writing about it, talking to others and continue to find ways to push myself. 2011 just might be even better than 2010!

On this day last year, November 5, 2009, I got serious about my workouts. Ironically, exactly 1 year later I'm 100 pounds lighter!

20 things I love about losing 100 pounds!

1. I no longer have to shop in the women’s plus size department, I can try on clothes and not feel irritated, frustrated or embarrassed about how I look in them.
2. The jaw dropping stares and compliments I get from people that haven’t seen me in awhile.
3. The pressure and stiffness in my knees has completely vanished.
4. Being able to comfortably fit into an airplane seat AND letting the tray table down all of the way without it resting on my thighs.
5. Feeling stronger, sexier, healthier and more conscious about the way in which I treat my body.
6. Being able to push myself hard and know that I’m not going to die from exercise.
7. My friends, family and others telling me that I’ve inspired them to make changes and get active.
8. Knowing that I’ve accomplished something amazing on my own without a fad diet, personal trainer, surgery, or daily gym trek.
9. Feeling like now I can do anything I set my mind to.
10. Hearing people tell me that I look really young now! That’s a huge ego boost, I’ll take younger versus older as far as looks go any day!
11. I have tons of energy although I still like to sleep on my lazy days J.
12. My feet don’t swell anymore!
13. I feel beautiful again on the inside and out.
14. I’ve found a new passion in health and fitness.
15. I don’t mind being in photos anymore.
16. My sense of self has returned and I am happy with the woman I am right now.
17. I don’t have a fear of trying new physical activities. Before I felt like my weight held me back in a lot of ways because the pressure on my knees prohibited me from even making an attempt.
18. I have the ability to talk to others (who want to lose or get healthy) about my struggles and successes and let them know I’ve been where they are and that it CAN be done with hard work and dedication.
19. My daughter’s, my honey, my family, my friend’s and my coworkers are so very proud of me!
20. My life is no longer controlled by my size or my weight, my life is now controlled by the choices I make and the actions I take to uphold my healthy lifestyle!

What a difference a year makes!

My workouts have been killer this week! Spinning kicked my ass on Tuesday night, yet I can’t wait to go back for more on Saturday morning! My inner and outer thighs are screaming for a nice long stretch with a hot bath to follow! I’ve never done the Turbo Fire Stretch 40 DVD because I generally don’t spend more than 10 minutes doing an extended stretch. Thanks to my new spinning addiction, I certainly realize the importance of having more flexibility in my joints!

The plan is to starting integrating the 40 minute stretch into my routine at least once a week. My two spin classes per week, HIIT workouts and weights are requiring me to improve my flexibility. I am not trying to injure myself and have to take a seat on the sidelines, no ma’am, I’m in this game to WIN! Tomorrow marks one full year on a serious exercise regiment without any serious injury (thank the Lord). It’s hard to believe it’s been a year already, where does the time go? This time last year is when I really got serious about changing my body. This is when I decided I was not going to live an unhealthy lifestyle any longer. I am glad that I decided to make the changes. Nothing tastes as good as I feel right now!

If you haven’t already done this I urge you to sit down and have a serious conversation with yourself. It’s not enough to say “I want to lose weight.” You must create a plan of action to support that statement. My plan of action a year ago was this; I will exercise 3-4 times per week for 30 minutes and I will count points on Weight Watchers. As my body got stronger, I increased my exercise. Now I’m up to 6 days per week, 1-2 hours per day! What a difference a year makes!

Team Lean Suite up and running!

My Team Lean Suite forum is up and running!! Yay!! I am super excited about this! I’ve been playing around with the concept for quite some time so to see it come to life is a blessing! My friends and family that are participating are showing enthusiasm too which is very necessary for success. I’ve found out for myself personally that working with a group of likeminded individuals helped me to stay motivated. It held me accountable to the goals I had set for myself.

Everyone has to start somewhere. It doesn’t matter where you begin (or pick back up) as long as you have a goal in place. The details of your goal can be worked out along the way, as your thoughts about where you want to be may change. The key is to set your goal! You can’t plan a trip to a place that you’ve never been without knowing how you’re going to get there. Having a constant source of motivation is helpful but the core of your motivation has to come from within. You have to decide how important reaching your goal is to you. Start reading food labels. If you take a look at exactly what you’re putting in your body, you’ll begin to change your mind about eating OR drinking it! The purpose of this group is to change your entire idea about living healthy. It’s not just about exercising or eating right, it’s about the lifestyle change.

This is going to be a fun and exciting group! I can’t wait to really get things cracking! I’m still working towards reaching my own goal and even after I do I’ll still be coaching and cheering everyone else along! I also understand that keeping it off once it’s gone can sometimes be an even greater challenge. I’m up for it…are you??

Team Lean Suite!!!

Team Lean Suite is the forum I've created in conjunction with my blog for ladies to communicate and motivate each other with healthy living and weight loss. The forum as of right now is "invite only" so if you're interested in becoming a member...let me know and I'll tell you how!

This group came about from the countless questions and comments I've received from my friends about my weight loss. It's easier for me to answer questions and initiate challenges in one place where members feel comfortable sharing. I planned to start the forum in January 2011 but figured there's no better time than now to help others get healthy! I'm all in!

Compliments keep me going!

This afternoon on my way to the break room for lunch, one of the OB/GYN physicians I work for (Emily Norland) stops me in my tracks with a compliment. She asks me "exactly where are you planning to take this last 15 pounds from?" I reply "actually now it's 13..but it's still there!" She says, "seriously I am so proud of you and you've done an amazing job!" I won't bore you with the rest of my compliments from Dr. Norland but my coworkers have been instrumental in my success. Dr. Norland is super fit and a compliment coming from her is an honor! It's important to let those around you know what you are working towards. I shared my goals and I wasn't shy about my mission. My mission is to continue on my journey to goal, adapt to the changes in my new body and lifestyle! My mission is to help others along the way as well!

Week #50 in review!!!

My weeks start over on Monday, as this is the day that I weigh in. This past week was great! I lost 1.6 pounds, bringing my weight to 177.6. I'm on my second round of Turbo Fire. I thought I might give it a break but I love it too much to give it up! I am adding more strength training this time around. As far as food goes I stayed on track for the most part. I have to be honest when I say I have this serious love affair going on with peanut butter Twix! I've had a Twix every single day this last week! I know so very shameful but I'm owning it along with my LOSS!

I'm working hard to end my affair, only visiting my lover a couple times a week until I can wean myself! I for damn sure don't need or want those fat grams resting on my thighs!

On an even better note, this is my 50th week of consistent diet and exercise!! Woot woot!!! This is my lifestyle now, I am a believer!

Summer in Seattle 2010

It's been four long years since the girls and I have taken professional photographs together. In August I enlisted the help of my friend Wayne Jung (Nappsack photography) to capture summer in Seattle! Here are a few of the shots from the shoot. He did an excellent job of capturing all of our personalities. My girls LOVE the camera...can you tell??? LOL! My heart is so full right now, I'm blessed!

Photos before weight loss

I decided to go through my files to see if I could find more photos of myself from the last few years. I don't have many because I stayed away from the camera! I've changed SO much!!! Maybe one day I'll scan photos of myself before I gained 110 pounds. These photos keep me working towards my goals!

What's my motivation?

It warms my heart when someone tells me that I have inspired them to make changes and get healthy. People often ask me “where does my motivation come from?” When I look at myself in the mirror, I finally recognize the woman staring back at me. 90+ pounds ago I did not recognize myself. I had completely let myself go both mentally and physically. I went through a period of depression. I had so many things going on and I wasn’t happy with myself. I had to work on myself emotionally before I could begin a physical transformation. My motivation comes from self love above all other things. I know who I am, I know what I am capable of doing. My motivation comes from my girls, my motivation comes from my honey and from my family. They are proud of me and in turn I want to keep showing them what I am made of.
You might have several failed attempts at weight loss or you might be lucky and have one successful try. Either way, you’ll have to dig deep to find the motivation to continue and to keep going once you meet your goal. The scale often goes back up or doesn’t budge at all but that should not be a reason to give up on your goals. Anything in life worth having is worth fighting for! Fight for your health and your overall well being!
